Steephill Cove

Places to Visit

Steephill Cove is one of the less accessible beaches on the Island, but this is also what makes it so special.  The beautiful, secluded bay is  one of the Isle of Wight's treasures.

Set just around the south coast from Ventnor, Steephill is sheltered and makes a lovely place to sit and watch the sea, have a picnic or go canoeing.  As you can see in the pictures, when the tide is up, there isn't much beach to play on, so it's best to go when the tide is out if you have kids (especially if you've made the walk down there!).

To access, you can go down from the Botanic Gardens car park, or there are a few car parks along the road back towards Ventnor with access down by the Cricket Club or a bit further along.  It's possible to get down there with a buggy (as we did) but the walk way down is very steep and we took the steps on the way back as it was quicker.
