Appley Beach is a huge expanse of sand at low tide, and is situated east of Ryde, towards Seaview.  It's a family friendly beach and when the tide is low, little pools form which make great, fun places to splash about in.  Even when you get to the sea, it is remains shallow.  If you want to have a proper swim, high tide is a better time to go.  

Behind the beach, is Appley Park and Playground, which add an extra activity onto a beach trip and the perfect place to have a less sandy picnic.  The park has lots of big, old trees, one of which is used by the Goodleaf Tree Climbing, where you can safely learn to climb.  As an alternative to a picnic, the Appley Beach Cafe serves hot and cold food and has a good range of ice creams.
