Once in a Blue Moon

Next dates

Sorry, there are no future dates available

The New Carnival Company (NCC) is hosting an outdoor arts event to celebrate the rare and very special Blue Moon.  A Blue Moon is said to occur when there are two full moons in a single calendar month and only falls on Halloween once every 19 years!

The New Carnival Company’s event will take the theme of Dark Skies, and is supporting the IW Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) to get official recognition for the Island to become an International Dark Skies Area, one of only 16 registered so far in the world! The recognition would ensure protection for nature and heritage but also promote tourism, being complimentary to the Island’s newly designated status as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

This event will take place at the Garlic Farm in Newchurch, and will run on the following dates: Thursday 29th (sold out), Friday 30th (sold out) and Saturday 31st October.  Entry is charged at £5 per car (with only a maximum of two cars allowed per group).

Local artists, schools and communities have all contributed to the nature themed displays, which will illuminate the fields and woodland around the Garlic Farm.  As it will be so dark, visitors are encouraged to bring their own torches and lanterns.  You can even make them at home with the New Carnival Company's take-out kits which can be purchased by emailing the email address below.

Please note that tickets have now sold out for the Thursday and Friday.  To secure a place for the Saturday, email info@thenewcarnivalcompany.com

The Garlic Farm Cafe will be open for dinner after your walk so do book your table in advance by emailing thecafe@thegarlicfarm.co.uk.
