The Western Yar Estuary

The Western Yar Estuary is within the Isle of Wight's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).  Take a walk or bike ride up the estuary on the old railway track to Yarmouth.  There's lots to see and the saltmarshes make a great home for all sorts of wildlife, especially the Common Redshank.  The walk will take around an 45mins to an hour each way.

Facilities

- Parking is free, on road at start of the path at the Causeway, if starting from the Freshwater end.  If starting in Yarmouth, most parking is paid but there is lots around the town.

- Off the Rails Cafe is at the end of the walk at Yarmouth, serving lovely food and has beautiful views across the marshes
